The stars didn't fall today; Sunday, March 19
I started blogging when I was thirteen. A friend had a really cool blog and I wanted one just like hers. So I started one and everybody else had one too (long link lists, with actual active blog links, used to be a thing) (lol). I used the url 'limemaryam' for my first blog and I would go on to change my url twice along the way, each signalling an end of a stage of my life and the start of a new one, both academically, actually.
'Limemaryam' because I was obsessed with the colour lime green. Literally obsessed.
'Heymaryam' was a spin-off of the band Hey Monday. I can't even remember any of their songs now.
'Ohkitsune' because I discovered the word 'kitsune' in a Japanese travel book which I read at the library because I was bored studying for my A Levels. And it just sounded nice.
And my timestamp has always been posted with 'The stars didn't fall at-' since my 'limemaryam' days. That was from a band called Stars Don't Fall which I discovered when I was 12. I remember liking their title song. Again, refer to Hey Monday, aka I can't even remember any of their songs anymore.
I think I pretty much stuck to the usual style of writing all this while. I remember cleaning up my language when I changed to 'heymaryam' haha. And the content? Really just everyday stories of an average girl and her superficial thoughts. Rarely a glimpse of something deeper.
The point is.
The point is that I think it's time to say goodbye. I don't know why I used to love blogging so much; I would literally think "Omg, I have to blog about this later!" much like how people would 'snap' or 'Instastory' things today. I liked sitting for a couple of hours and finding the words and expressions that best fit me as a person and the emotions that I want to covey. But... I don't feel like that anymore.
So, here we are.
Goodbye to the blogging world. If you're reading this, I hope I've made you smile at least once. This blog wasn't mindblowing and it was nothing out of the ordinary but it's something that's stayed with me for a huge part of my life and was a witness to my teenage years and early twenties. It was just an ordinary blog for an ordinary girl. But knowing that some people were paying attention and reading what I wrote was more than enough for what little narcissism I have. Lol. So.. thank you, I guess?
I'll be leaving this space as it is. Should I feel like getting a new blog someday, I'll post the link here. So.. if one day in the future, you still remember this URL and you decide to come back here and see that there's a new link.. well, good for you? Haha but if you see the page is still as it is, then it means that I still am not interested in blogging but nor do I have the thoughts of totally deleting this trove of memories. But should the invalid URL notice pops up.. know that we had a good run, guys. Lol.
So, goodbye! And thank you! May Allah bless you, whoever and wherever you are <3333
