School 2013 is an excellent drama. It details the lives of students in school who are running to reach for their dreams and constantly struggling to meet other peoples' expectations. It doesn't matter if they ended up rising up to the challenge or falling down from its blow. At the end of the day, it's up to each individual to decide what exactly matters to them. And that for some people, maybe a high school certificate just isn't the answer. As controversial as that may sound, it's only until we are in other people's shoes that we can see how they have to make a decision upon which their lives depend. And who are we to judge? It's the rest of us who are still running in this rat race who need to reevaluate our lives and priorities. Sure, education is important. But maybe we should start asking why we are truly doing this. As a Muslim to a fellow Muslim, we need to get our niat right :)
The drama also tells of a teacher's struggle to be the best teacher for her students and it was interesting because all I know of a teacher's struggle was the workload. I have never realised that teaching also involves the emotional attachment to students, the pressure to have them turn out the best and the almost-need to worry about the students' personal problems even. Who knew teaching comes with such a big emotional baggage? There should be a warning label for those to-bes. *chuckles*
And also, not to forget the friendship aspect. The camaderie, the fights and the makeups, the complications, the unity. What are friends for anyway, if not for messing with your life and making you think and appreciate and evaluate who your true friends are. And truly, as a person who's "been there, done that", the friends you make during secondary or high school may end up as the annoying ones who stick to you like pain in the rear end but you could not help loving them to death anyway!
Well the point of that wall of a post is.. I'm just sad that the series is over. I hope there's a season 2 or a spin-off of it. Cheers.
